Following a three-year absence, Royal Purple Raceway announced recently that it will return to a weekly Saturday night racing series on its Dirt Track.
The 2013 campaign will be billed as the “Dirt Series” and will feature side-by-side racing in USRA Modifieds, USRA Limited Modifieds, Hobby Stock, and Pure Stock classes. The weekly “Dirt Series” will also feature competition in the American Sprint Car Series, the ASCS II mini sprints, and the Classic Dwarfs. Opening night for the “Dirt Series” is slated for Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Drivers in the USRA Modified division will compete for a points fund worth up to $1500 at season’s end to the track champion, plus multiple contingency awards for several drivers in the class. A $10,000 cash award awaits the USRA Modified national champion in the USRA Weekly Racing Series.
USRA Limited Mod competitors will see a track points fund that pays the 2013 champion $500 plus several contingency awards while $2000 has been earmarked for the USRA Limited Mod national champion.
Limited Mods will get the first crack at USRA national points when they join the USMTS Modifieds at Royal Purple Raceway for the 4th Annual Texas Spring Nationals, February 21-23. All three days will award USRA national points in the division.
National points are awarded to each licensed driver based on his/her best 20-point nights within their division from February 21, 2013, through October 20, 2013.
The Dirt Track at Royal Purple Raceway is a state-of-the-art 1/4-mile high-banked clay oval with a main grandstand seating capacity of 7500. The facility also includes fourteen VIP luxury suites and boasts a modern Musco Lighting system suitable for television productions.
Located in Baytown, Texas, the Dirt Track at Royal Purple Raceway is located 25 miles east of downtown Houston off Interstate-10.
