NMCA WEST Announces New Fontana Bracket Series

NMCA WEST announced the addition of a bracket championship drag racing series. The Fontana Championship Bracket Series includes six races in 2014 at the newly re-opened Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, California.
 
"We are excited and proud to announce a six race Bracket Race Championship Series, that will be run within the three NMCA WEST Fontana events in 2014," said Rollie Miller, NMCA WEST National Event Director. "We would like to thank Ray Wilkings at Auto Club Speedway for working with us on introducing this Series for the Bracket Racers in Southern California."    
 
The NMCA WEST Fontana Bracket Series will consist of six bracket races on the following dates within the NMCA WEST event weekends:
• March 29, 2014
• March 30, 2014
• June 21, 2014
• June 22, 2014
• October 25, 2014
• October 26, 2014

Bracket Champions:
The champions in each of the three classes will be recognized as a group at the NMCA WEST ceremony, tentatively scheduled at the Edelbrock Museum in January 2015. The champions in all three classes will receive an NMCA WEST champion's trophy and an NMCA WEST leather champion's jacket.

Super Pro (Bracket 1) Rules: 
*Time break: 7.00 - 11.99
*No Computers or data recorders permitted.
*CrossTalk will be utilized.
*Delay Boxes permitted.
*Throttle Stops & air throttles are permitted only as a starting line launch control and NOT as a "downtrack" throttle stop. Orifice control blocks in the pneumatic lines are permitted as long as the throttle moves to wide open, without hesitation, upon launch of the vehicle. A fixed mechanical throttle stop that cannot be adjusted or overridden, while the car is in motion, is allowed in all classes.
*Nitrous timers are permitted.
*Trans Brakes, 2-Steps, Line Locks and air/electric shifters are permitted.
*No bikes.
 
Pro (Bracket 2) Rules:
*Time break:  8:00 - 13.99
*Door Cars only
*No Delay Boxes
*No Computers
*Throttle Stops & Air Throttles are not permitted
*Trans Brakes, 2-steps, Line Locks and Air/Electric Shifters are permitted, However the air/electric shifter must utilize an RPM-Activated switch - NO TIMERS ALLOWED.  RPM switch adjustment must be out of drivers reach when racing.
 
Sportsman (Bracket 3) Rules:
*Time break: 12.00 - 19.99
*Door Cars Only
*No Delay Boxes
*No Computers
*No Electronics
 
Points Awarded for Eliminations:
Each round loss is awarded 10 points. Winner in each class is awarded 10 points.
Example of 8 car field:
1st round loser- 10 points
2nd round loser- 20 points
3rd round loser- 30 points
Winner- 40 points
 
In the event of a tie for position:
In the event of a points tie for any position, the first default will be awarded to the competitor with the most feature wins.  If there is still a points tie for a position, the second default will be awarded to the competitor with the most round wins.  If there is still a points tie for a position the third default will be awarded to the competitor with the best average reaction time in the last 5 rounds of competition.
