Howard Kaeding, the West Coast sprint car legend and founder of Kaeding Performance, has passed away, the company confirmed in a social media post. He was 92.

Kaeding was a strong influence in the West Coast sprint car scene, founding the company in the 1960s and winning more than 130 main events at San Jose Speedway in California. 

He is also the father of Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding and grandfather of Bud and Tim Kaeding. Bud Kaeding, a three-time USAC Silver Crown Series champion, now runs Kaeding Performance, which supplies a variety of sprint-car and open-wheel-racing parts.
