Just three days after the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 9, the teams and drivers of IndyCar will head to Texas Motor Speedway for a series open test.
IndyCar confirmed the date of April 12 to give everyone a chance to run on the repaved circuit, which has a different banking level in Turns 1 and 2 versus 3 and 4.
The test occurs three days after Texas hosts its first race weekend of its 2017 season, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, and NASCAR Xfinity Series races.
The track recently released an update on the repave process of the 1.5-mile Speedway, which announced the improvement process earlier this year following a year that saw both its NASCAR race weekends impacted by rain and track drying issues. The project included repaving the surface, installation of an expansive draining system as well as a reconfiguration of Turns 1 and 2.
