Muncie Dragway is the latest track to sign a sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association.
The Albany, Indiana, facility opened on Easter Sunday in 1960, and features a quarter-mile drag strip and racing four days a week.
Since taking over ownership of track in 2013, Scott and Dawn Daniels have seen a significant increase in the number of spectators.
The move back to IHRA for the first time since 2006 is a natural progression in promoting Sportsman racing, according to track officials.
“At our track, we cater to the Sportsman racer,” said Scott Daniels, who races a 1971 Monte Carlo in No Box competition. “And, the IHRA is focused on the grassroots, Sportsman racer.”
The track has a full schedule of events from March through October, including its popular Spring Fling 25’s weekend in May.
