John Surtees OBE has bought go-karting track Buckmore Park for an undisclosed sum.

The famous karting track near Chatham was raced around by F1 Champions Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton while the drivers were still learning their craft.

The motorports legend, who lives in Edenbridge, stated that he had acquired the business and assets of the companies operated by former owner Bill Sisley at Buckmore Park.

The businesses, Buckmore Park Karting Limited and Buckmore Park Kart Club Limited, will continue to be operated by Surtees under the same trading names.

It was also announced that Bill Sisley will remain at the park continuing as a consultant for the companies.

The operation team will continue as before, but with Chris Pullman stepping up as joint managing director with Mike Griffiths. Mr Pullman will be responsible for the day to day operations of Buckmore Park.
