NHRA Motorsports Museum To Host Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition

Once again, the NHRA Motorsports Museum will host the Southern California site for the 2015 Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills competition.
Southern California’s best automotive technology students, building up their technical expertise for today’s high-tech car repair industry, will meet this Friday, May 1, to compete in the statewide 2015 Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition.
The competition will be held at 10 a.m., with media interviews up to 9:30. The hands-on competition tests the ability of high-school auto tech students to diagnose and repair uniformly “bugged” Ford vehicles without sacrificing workmanship.
The winning two-member team will compete at national finals in Dearborn, Michigan, in June with students from across the country for more scholarships, prizes, college-level educational opportunities and the national crown.
Twenty students are set to compete, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California Student Auto Skills Competition Chairman Avo Asdourian.

This year, Ford and AAA expect to distribute millions in scholarships through the student auto repair skills competition. Nearly 14,000 US students compete took online state qualifying exams to proceed to the states’ hands-on competitions for the chance to represent their school and state in the National Finals. The competition tests students’ automotive knowledge, workmanship and problem-solving abilities.
