GRAND-AM, ALMS & IMSA Set Postseason Banquets

GRAND-AM Road Racing, the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) presented by Tequila Patrón and the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) have announced plans for postseason awards celebrations that will wrap up 2013 while setting the stage for their 2014 merger and the inaugural United SportsCar Racing season.
Here’s the lineup:
· The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Awards will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn., following GRAND-AM’s season finale weekend at the storied road course.
· The GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Awards will return to New York City’s Gotham Hall on the evening of Monday, Sept. 30. The InterContinental New York Times Square will again serve as the official hotel for the Rolex Series Awards.
· Competitors in the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama and the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship will be recognized during separate special events at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga., on Friday. Oct. 18.
· And on Sunday, Oct. 20, the American Le Mans Series Presented by Tequila Patrón Night of Champions Awards will be at Château Élan in Braselton, Ga., one night after the ALMS’ season-ending Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda 10-hour endurance classic.
“Last year’s Rolex Series Awards at Gotham Hall really gave the drivers, teams, tracks, manufacturers and sponsors involved in the Rolex Series a premium setting to showcase their efforts,” said GRAND-AM President and CEO Ed Bennett. “Now it’s time for another showcase, one that will celebrate 2013 but also set the table for what is sure to be a landmark 2014 season.”
ALMS President and CEO Scott Atherton envisions “a special significance to this year’s Night of Champions for the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón. As we look forward with great anticipation to a new era starting in 2014, we’ll also celebrate 15 seasons of countless memorable events and so many great champions of the ALMS. It truly will be a celebration to remember.”
