The Board of Directors of the Short Track Auto Racing Series, LLC have unanimously approved the dissolution of STARS for various reasons at a Board of Directors meeting held on May 31.

The Board cited that STARS was unable to reach an agreement with the Grundy County Fair Board on a viable contract for this season, the loss of sponsors and health issues with some of the management team were all contributing factors.

“This decision was not an easy decision to make and we are saddened that STARS will not be part of the 2016 season in this area.  We want to thank all of our sponsors, team owners, competitors in all divisions, our track help, and our fans for their support in the past five years,” the organization said in a statement.

STARS sanctioned asphalt midget racing mainly at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill.
