The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), brought to you by Gran Turismo, has announced the first-ever Unser Legacy King of the Mountain Ring crafted by Jostens. The overall winner of the 2023 "Race to the Clouds"--set for Sunday, June 25--will receive the one-of-a-kind ring.
Earning 26 PPIHC crowns, the Unser family has deep roots in this race's history, with those in the industry often referring to Pikes Peak as "Unser Mountain."
"It seemed such a natural fit for the Unser Racing Museum to collaborate with Jostens to create a wearable trophy for the annual 'King of the Mountain,'" said Susan Unser of the Unser Racing Museum. "The Unser family arrived from Switzerland and settled in Colorado City in 1895. Their three sons loved racing the dirt road to the top of the mountain on their motorcycles. Next came the sons and grandsons of those three, and their love of and success on the mountain propelled them to legendary careers. Now we have fourth-generation daughters and sons who are reaching for the clouds. It's always been a magical place for the Unser family."
