Portland Karting Association Adding Turns, New Configurations To MAC Track

Portland Karting Association will be closing the MAC Track on August 6 to start construction that will add two turns to the highly popular track, which will provide more opportunity for passing and also allow for additional track configurations.
Also, PKA will be repairing some rough areas and repaving others to bring the track up to PKA and its racers' expectations.
The construction project plan is to have the new asphalt laid down by August 10, with a minimum cure time of 4 to 6 weeks. The first race on the new pavement at this time is planned to be the September 15 Saturday Night Oregon State Karting Championship Series Race followed by the Big Butt Invitational on September 16.
The PKA Board of Directors has been in the planning reconstruction process for over three years. With the recent signing of its lease renewal with the Yamhill County Fairgrounds, the opportunity to repair and make additions to the track became a reality.
PKA has hosted numerous successful IKF regional and Grand National events at the MAC Track, and has been awarded to host the 2013 IKF 4 Cycle Sprint Grand Nationals on the new MAC Track configuration. For more information, updates and progress, go to www.portlandkarting.com.
