Rockingham Speedway President Andy Hillenburg was recently named the second quarter winner of the NMPA Speedway Motorsports Spirit Award.
The award is designed to recognize character and achievement in the face of adversity, sportsmanship and contributions to motorsports.
Each year, quarterly winners are selected, and a yearly winner is determined by a vote of the National Motorsports Press Association membership.
Hillenburg was selected for his efforts to return NASCAR to Rockingham Speedway. NASCAR left the track in 2004 after nearly 40 years but, due to the work of Hillenburg, returned with the Camping World Truck Series last April.
NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer was the first quarter winner of the award.
