CV Products To Close Mooresville Retail Store

CV Products, a Thomasville-based manufacturer of auto-racing parts and accessories, will eliminate 12 positions in the coming months and close its Mooresville retail store.

The cuts are part of a restructuring and an increased focus by the company on its manufacturing businesses in Thomasville.

CV has 156 full-time workers, including 140 at the manufacturing facility, said Steve Lineberger, president and CEO of CV's holding company, SV America Holdings LLC.

He said the restructuring will affect four employees in Thomasville, along with three within the company’s traveling PRS trackside business and five at the Mooresville store. The store, which sells parts to NASCAR race teams, is expected to close by early 2016.

Lineberger said the company is restructuring to focus on its growing manufacturing businesses: Xceldyne Technologies, Advanced Material Coatings LLC and SV Plastics.

“It’s really positioning ourselves for growth based on what our core competencies are, as well as where the trends and categories are going," Lineberger said. “It’s really a restructuring that will prepare us for the growth that we anticipate coming.”

Lineberger wouldn’t provide specific figures but said revenue from the manufacturing businesses is up significantly year-over-year. He added that both Xceldyne and Advanced Material Coatings continue to grow within the aviation business.

Xceldyne, which is a manufacturer of valves, valvetrains and racing components, began moving into the aviation category a few years ago. But growth within that industry will not come at the expense of the manufacturer’s motorsports business, Lineberger said.

The company will also continue to carry a line of engine-related parts, but is winding down the distribution of its chassis parts.

CV will consider offers to buy the chassis distribution business, the store and PRS.
