Early Entries Top 90 For IMCA Duel In The Desert

More than 90 early entries have been received and work on the half-mile Dirt Track continues in preparation for the Nov. 9-12 Duel In The Desert at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The biggest event again this season in the Larry Shaw Racing Western Region sees Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $7,777 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier on Saturday, Nov. 12.
“The Duel In The Desert has been one of our marquee events for nearly two decades, with top flight competition from across the country and one of the biggest purses at any sanctioned race,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “Drivers are going to appreciate the work done on the racing surface and I look forward to another outstanding Duel.”
The Modified runner-up earns $3,250, with $2,250 for third, $1,750 for fourth, $1,500 for fifth, $1,250 for sixth, $1,150 for seventh, $1,100 for eighth, $1,050 for ninth and $1,000 for 10th. A minimum of $777 will be paid to start the main event and to the winners of Thursday and Friday, Nov. 10 and 11 qualifying features.
Saturday’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod winner earns $1,777. Second place in the main event is good for $777. Thursday and Friday qualifiers both pay $500 to win.
Drivers in both divisions can still register online for the 19th annual Duel. The link is www.lvms.com/tickets/duel_in_the_desert_registration/. The registration form and payment must be received by Nov. 1 to lock in early entry fees.
One hundred and twenty trailer loads of new material have been added to the Dirt Track and work continues daily on the racing surface.
