One of the top drag race engine builders of the last half-century and his record breaking racer-daughter will headline an exclusive seminar at the 2015 PRI Trade Show.
Pat Musi of Pat Musi Racing Engines and his daughter Lizzy, who is also president of Musi Enterprises in Mooresville, North Carolina, are the featured guests for a sit-down interview style presentation titled “Powering Performance: Pat Musi Racing Engines” scheduled from 8–9 a.m. on Friday, December 11, at the Indiana Convention Center, Room 242.
In this wide-ranging session, Pat and Lizzy Musi will discuss their thriving business, how it has evolved over the years, how it’s been so successful, how it has addressed different challenges, how it is being positioned for the future, and much more. Questions will be delivered by PRI Magazine editor Dan Schechner, as well as audience members, who are invited to participate in the Q&A.
“As far as PRI is concerned, Pat and Lizzy Musi are drag racing royalty,” said Schechner, who also organizes the Trade Show’s educational programming. “I cannot wait to learn how this iconic company operates, how Pat and Lizzy view the current racing environment, and what the future holds for this elite business. Attendees are in for an unforgettable session on Friday morning!”
Born and raised in the small town of Carteret, New Jersey, Pat Musi has become, quite simply, a drag racing superstar. Having cut his teeth street racing before moving to the drag strip, Musi in 1970—at the age of 18—opened a small speed shop behind his father’s business.
Along with Musi’s success behind the wheel, Pat’s Speed Shop would become the foundation for a multi-time championship-winning operation spanning the US and, indeed, the world. His clients over the years have hailed from coast to coast, as well as the Middle East, the Caribbean, and more.
From dominating NMCA Pro Street in the 1990s to obliterating the ranks of NHRA Pro Modified, PDRA Pro Nitrous and the Extreme Outlaw Pro Mod Series in 2014, Musi Racing Engines has truly earned its place among doorslammer racing’s upper class.
Proudly carrying the family tradition is Lizzy Musi, whose own accomplishments are piling up. Among them are PDRA Rookie of the Year honors in 2014 for her feats in Pro Nitrous, where she became the first woman ever to break the 200 mph barrier in 1/8-mile doorslammer racing. Beyond her on-track achievements, Lizzy also runs day-to-day operations as president of Mooresville-based Musi Enterprises.
“Pat Musi injected the sport of drag racing with a fun new energy when he came to rule Pro Street competition. He was wicked fast, with some of the baddest race engines in the business,” said John Kilroy, producer of the PRI Trade Show. “The PRI team is proud to have Pat and Lizzy share their experiences and insights in running a successful race engine business in this special seminar.”
This can’t-miss presentation is offered free of charge for registered Trade Show attendees. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, however, as seating is limited.
