Aeromotive, Waterman Racing Components Announce Joint Venture At PRI Show

Aeromotive and Waterman Racing Components on Thursday announced a partnership that will allow both companies to incorporate their design experience and research and development. The announcement was made on opening day of the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show.

"The two companies will not be merged, but continue to be run autonomously," said Aeromotive President Steve Matusek. "The reason this was such a make-sense decision is that there is very little overlap in the markets we serve, even in the way we go to market."

After 49 years of running Waterman Racing Components, president Sid Waterman will now serve as an advisor and consultant for Aeromotive in the joint venture.

"I had a goal to be able to celebrate my company's 50th anniversary, and we will be there on April 1," said Waterman, whose health issues earlier this year convinced him it was time to lessen his workload. "This has been a long time coming. The health issues made me made take a second look at how life is, how it goes on, and what you're supposed to do with yourself at a certain time.

"I knew that if I partnered with Aeromotive, that they have the marketing expertise to take Waterman Racing Components to the next level. I can offer them insight into my fuel pump designs to create a new product line."

In a joint announcement, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) confirmed that its Pro Mod Series will increase from 10 to 12 races next year. Both Aeromotive and Waterman Racing Components are actively involved in the NHRA series, and one of the races added will be held in Kansas' Heartland Park Topeka, Aeromotive's backyard, bringing the total of Pro Mod races held near both companies' plant locations to four.
