The Sauber F1 Team has made the announcement the iconic squad will race under a new banner in 2019: Alfa Romeo Racing.

“It is a pleasure to announce that we will enter the 2019 Formula One World Championship with the Team name Alfa Romeo Racing," Alfa Romeo Racing Team Principal Frederic Vasseur said. “After initiating the collaboration with our Title Sponsor Alfa Romeo in 2018, our team made fantastic progress on the technical, commercial and sporting side. This has given a boost of motivation to each team member, be that track-side or at the headquarter in Switzerland, as the hard work invested has become reflected in our results.”

The team's long-term partnership between Sauber and Title Sponsor Alfa Romeo was initiated in 2018. After finishing the championship in eighth in 2018, the collaboration has been further extended with Sauber ownership and management remaining unchanged.

Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi will drive for Alfa Romeo Racing in 2019. The newly renamed team will also unveil its 2019 car during testing at Barcelona, set for February 18.
