Kansas Legislature Advances Right-to-Race Bill
The Kansas House of Representatives on February 12, 2026, unanimously approved the Kansas Motorsports Venue Protection Act (HB 2416), demonstrating broad bipartisan support for protecting long‑standing race tracks from nuisance‑based lawsuits filed by nearby property owners who moved into the area after the tracks were established.
The Senate Transportation Committee will now consider the bill.
HB 2416, sponsored by Representative Leo Delperdang, mirrors legislation filed in 10 other states as part of a growing national effort led by SEMA and PRI to secure right‑to‑race protections for race tracks operating legally and responsibly throughout the United States. Similar legislation has been advanced or enacted in more than a quarter of states across the country as part of a coordinated legislative push to stabilize racetracks facing increased development pressures.
