Increaed Payouts For OCFS Competitors

For its historic 100th anniversary season, Orange County Fair Speedway, located in Middletown, New York, is offering one of northeast dirt racing’s most robust purse structures.
For years, OCFS has already offered some of the sport’s largest purses, but its new managing body—Orange Motorsports and Entertainment—felt that the 100-year-old speedway’s dedicated competitors deserved more this year.
Northeast dirt racing’s headlining division, Big Block Modifieds, will now make $3300 to win at weekly events, a significant increase from last year’s season. The 358 Small Block Modified class, the highest support class at OCFS, will go to $2000 to win weekly events.
Sportsman will go to $1000 to win weekly events, while Street Stocks—the only full-bodied car class at OCFS—will race in $500-to-win weekly events.
A special new bonus structure has also been put in place designed to reward hard chargers. Every week, a hard charger in their division will be awarded a $250 bonus.
In addition to the hard charger award, there will also be bonuses for drivers who win from further back in the field. This new bonus structure states that wins from 10th to 15th place will receive a 10 percent bonus, wins from 16th to 20th place will receive a 15 percent bonus and wins from 20th place and beyond will receive a 20 percent bonus.
Drivers will also receive a larger check for their season points finish, with the big-block modified champion receiving an unprecedented $40,000. The points fund has not only increased for big blocks, but small blocks ($15,000 to the champion), sportsman ($5000 to the champion) and street stocks ($2,00 to the champion) as well.
On top of their new weekly purse structure, OCFS has also announced a handful of special events with their own impressive purse structures.
The April 13 season opener will pay $7100 to the big-block modified winner in honor of OCFS legend Carl “Fuzzy” Van Horn, who famously piloted the No. 71e car.
The May 11 The Devil Made Us Do It 666, July 18 Battle of the Midway 100 and Tony Stewart’s All-Star Circuit of Champions event on July 13 will all feature special higher purses as well.
Meanwhile, the August 15–17 Centennial Race Weekend will pay out $100,000 to the winner.
