On Saturday, September 29, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa, will participate in the eighth annual Museum Day Live!, which is a day when museums and cultural institutions nationwide open their doors free of charge to all visitors who download the official ticket from www.smithsonian.com

A journey to celebrate our world’s dynamic heritage and cultural life, participating Museum Day venues emulate the free-admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities.

According to National Sprint Car Museum curator Thomas J. Schmeh, "Last year, over 350,000 museum-goers took advantage of this special program and it will no doubt grow this year with over 1400 venues participating.

"At the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, we are proud to partner with the Smithsonian Institution in this worthy effort," added Schmeh. "This year, we are very excited to showcase our 'Salute to Champion Jeff Gordon' special exhibition on Museum Day Live! Hopefully we will have a lot of first-time visitors on that Saturday!"

Attendees must present the downloaded ticket to gain free entry for two people to participating institutions.

The Museum Day Live! ticket is available to download on their website at www.smithsonian.com/museumday

One ticket is permitted per household, per email address.

Links to other participating museums' websites can also be found there.
