Hyundai Motorsport will launch a top-level endurance racing program under the banner of its Genesis brand.

"Genesis is proud to announce its ambitious entry into the world of endurance racing through the LMDh program," said a statement from the company announcing the new program. "Genesis is actively exploring programs to strengthen its high-performance image, and after a thorough evaluation of various options, LMDh emerged as the most strategic choice for us at this time."

The statement did not specify any further details of the program, including a planned debut or the LMDh chassis the marque will use. The prototype would be eligible to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship or IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Hyundai Motorsport currently fields competitors in the World Rally Championship and in TCR-spec touring car racing.
