Carteret County Joins INEX Family

Carteret County Speedway will be running Legends and Bandolero races under US Legends Cars/INEX sanctioning in 2016.

The INEX sanctioning allows racers competing in the Legends and Bandolero divisions to compete for points regionally and nationally against drivers who run at other tracks. For Legends racers, the move is important since many of them race for points in the INEX national standings.

Both divisions will race on Saturday night, April 2, as part of Carteret County Speedway’s 2016 season opener. Legends racing will be a part of every racing program throughout the regular season.

Bandoleros are a beginner’s class in racing aimed at attracting young drivers to the sport. In the Bandoleros, kids and teenagers learn the basics of racing before moving up, often into a Legends car and then into bigger cars such as Late Models. Many adults race in the Legends cars, which are smaller cars that resemble the cars of the early-to-mid 20th century.

Carteret County Speedway’s inaugural race, held last September, featured both divisions with Justin Mitchell scoring the victory in the Legends division and Dustin Yeoman scoring the win in the Bandolero divisions.
