Maserati has announced Giovanni Tommaso Sgro as head of the Maserati Racing department to lead the brand’s motorsports efforts and raise awareness of the brand and its racing vocation. He reports directly to Maserati CEO Davide Grasso and operationally to Stellantis Motorsport Senior VP Jean-Marc Finot.

The announcement follows Maserati’s commitment as the first Italian brand to compete in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship beginning in 2023. He will also raise awareness of the brand and its racing vocation.

Prior to the appointment, Sgro held a series of positions—including managing commitments with NASCAR, Grand-Am Road Racing, and the Rolex 24 at Daytona—with Diago, the spirits and beer provider based in London.
