Infiniti Engineering Academy has announced the global search recruitment phase of the 2017 Infiniti Engineering Academy has closed, opening up the final event phase of the Academy.

The fourth running of the automotive-to-motorsport engineering recruitment program attracted some 12,000 registrations from 41 countries, a near-threefold increase over last year. The final events will take place during this summer in each of the seven participating regions: Asia and Oceania, Canada, China, Europe, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, and the US.

The US will be the next of the seven finals and will take place in Redmond, Washington on August 3. Ten US finalists will compete to secure the only position available for the US region—a year-long placement in the United Kingdom working for both Infiniti and the Renault Sport Formula One Team.

After each region selects one winner, the seven will contribute to the 2017 and 2018 Renault Sport Formula One Team campaigns.

“The seven Academy winners from last year’s intake have already been working hard in important roles at our Enstone base, strengthening our technical resource with fresh-thinking engineering ability. Attracting top new talent is crucial for success in Formula One, and the Academy helps us to do this,” said Cyril Abiteboul, managing director, Renault Sport Racing.
