IndyCar To Remove LED Panels For 2019

Officials from the NTT IndyCar Series have decided to remove the roll hoop-mounted LED information panels on the Dallara DW12s for the remainder of the 2019 season. The move comes after the series used two vendors and three different versions of the panels since 2015, according to published reports.

Some panels failed to work on a number of cars, calling for officials to request that all teams remove the LEDs for last weekend’s ABC Supply 500 in Pocono. Teams instead displayed larger numbers in the area.

The next-generation Dallara chassis, which is expected in 2022, will feature a fully integrated LED information panel design.
