Mountune—the designer and manufacturer of race engines and performance parts with locations in the US and UK—has new owners for its Essex, United Kingdom operation.

David Mountain, the founder of Mountune, together with a group of racing industry investors, has acquired the Mountune Performance and Racing business based in Essex, United Kingdom.

“It gives me enormous pleasure to be able to secure the brand both now, in its 40th year, and for the future,” Mountain said.

The acquisition means the Essex-based business, which was formally part of a global group structure, is now a completely independent business. Mountain said the move would allow the company to operate more efficiently and safeguard many jobs.

“We want to get back to what we do best—making power. Whether that be for our race teams, or for road car customers that like to enjoy their cars to the full every day,” Mountain said.

In the next few months, the UK shop will realign stock levels to meet customer expectations, freshen its in-house installation capability, and release performance products.
